Matters of the Heart

Well I will start out by saying, what an amazing week I experienced. I love being taught and explained the Word of God. Many things were confirmation of what I already knew, but there were other things that Pastor Adonica taught about and explained that turned a light on inside of me. For example I remember learning from other Christians, growing up that everything in the darkness, will be brought to light, meaning your sins. I’m not sure if maybe they were trying to put godly fear in me, but it sure didn’t help. I remember having an awful feeling on the inside of me, knowing that, that would be an awful thing to have to endure. But she explained that it is only the sin, that you don’t acknowledge as sin and bring it before God in repentance, that will be brought to light. Wow, thank the Lord for his forgiveness, mercy, and grace. What a relief it is to know that God washes away our sin, that we bring before him, and he remembers it no more. Another great thing I learned was that fasting doesn’t move God, as some people believe. I’ve known of so many people who will fast and act like they are doing it for God, sticking their nose in your face like they are super spiritual. Well I really appreciate that Pastor Adonica cleared that up. Fasting is good, but it is for our benefit, it’s to quiet our bodies to hear from God. Because there is nothing we can do in the flesh to please God. God is more concerned with us cleaning our heart, making sure it’s clean and pure before him, not our bodies. He is moved by our faith, and not what we do in the flesh. It’s amazing how much stuff is taken out of context from the Word and brought into the church, that people live their life believing, not ever being taught, that what they have believed was out of context and not true. Our God is an awesome God! Not judgmental, waiting to strike us, when we mess up, and I’m so grateful to have been taught and explained the Word of God for what it truly is and means. Thanks to Rodney Howard Browne.
